Be My Best Friend

Be my best friend and give to me that grace.
Let me be all the "me"s I want to be.
You always let me have that needed space.
Yes, even if the "me"s are contradictory.

But there's a.price we have to pay, you see.
Our lives today have such a busy pace;
It's hard to find a time when we are free.
Be my best friend and give to me that grace.

In this cold world, we have to seek the place
To nurture our potentiality.
Of course, a "shrink" will let me, for a fee,
Let me be all the "me"s I want to be.

You turn to me without hypocrisy.
Deceit and fear in you? I find no trace.
I feel that I can speak with honesty.
You always let me have that needed space.

How good to know when we are face to face,
That you can be the you, you want to be.
And all the "you"s, you show I will embrace.
Yes, even if the "you"s are contradictory.

Our souls in tune create a symphony,
The sound of which the world cannot erase.
God knew we'd make a special harmony.
To try to sing alone would be disgrace.
Be my best friend.
